Quantum Eating Diary: 2/18/2010
February 18, 2010 at 5:38am
I fell asleep last night right before 10pm and I slept until 5:30am where Andrew, aka my “alarm clock” woke me up because he wanted to eat something.
I find that as long as I don’t have to get out of bed I can soothe him and go back to sleep.
Because I had to go into the kitchen and get him some food, I wasn’t able to fall back asleep.
It’s all right as I still feel well rested.
I would have gone to bed much earlier last night but Andrew wasn’t quite ready to go to bed as early as I was–oh well.
Despite this I’m sleeping a lot better thanks to eating my last meal at 4pm yesterday.
I felt a tiny bit thirsty, but I wasn’t hungry at all.
I should probably make sure to drink some more water during the day because I shouldn’t be feeling thirsty in the evening as I’ve been eating water rich foods like watermelon, cantaloupe, tomatoes, cucumbers, celery so maybe I should make sure to drink my water in the early morning hours before I start eating (once I start eating I have almost NO INTEREST in drinking water)
Since starting this I notice that I’m losing a 1/4 inch of my waist each day which is a PLUS!
I’ve been dealing with issues of weight gain despite eating a 100% raw diet so I’ve known for many months that I needed to cut back on the amount of food I was eating.
When I tried cutting back previously I either would quit after a few days or I would start having cravings for cooked food. The cooked food cravings especially made me start eating more raw food again.
I guess now my body’s ready to cut back on the food and so far it’s working very well! I only crave water rich foods and I have no desire to eat any cooked foods!
I never thought I would be “for” calorie restricting but I guess it takes time to get to that point.
For those who are ready to cut back on the amount of calories they’re eating (and I only recommend this for those who have been eating a 100% raw diet for a long time) is to figure out your goal weight and enter the amount of calories you would need to eat in a day at your goal weight.
So in other words let’s say you’re a woman whose goal weight is 120lbs. You enter this information into the calorie chart (along with the other information asked) and the chart will give you an estimate as to the amount of calories you’ll need to eat in a day.

This, along with Quantum Eating, will give you an idea of what to strive for.
This is working so much better for me than eating the 3000+ calories I used to eat at all hours of the day and night!
My birthday is April 14 so I’m looking forward to reaching my goals by then!

IMO skipping dinner on cooked food would be a lot harder than skipping dinner on raw food.

Having your final meal at 6pm is a good start!
I used to be the type of person who had to go to bed on a full stomach but now I find it easy.
It’s amazing how the body changes once it starts getting it’s vitality back!

You make some interesting points about how the more you eat the more you have to exercise in order to balance things out.
Also exercising should be fun and not a chore! If we humans were living in our natural environment we would take a swim to cool off or climb trees in order to get some great fruit or sprinting and climb rocks to get away from predators, and take nice relaxing strolls when the coast is clear.
It seems that we do best with short intense types of exercise and also gentle forms like walking and swimming.
The best physique I ever saw on a man was last year when I met a rock climber in Costa Rica.
He was so ripped he was SHREDDED!
He told me his secret–rock climbing. This makes sense as so many muscles are used in rock climbing.
I just finished my final meal about 15 minutes ago (it’s 10 minutes after 5 as I type this).

I am completely amazed at how well this is working! I feel completely satisfied, there’s ZERO deprivation.
I’m looking forward to another good night’s rest!

I find that eating cooked food makes one feel HUNGRIER than eating raw food.
I noticed that when I used to eat cooked food I averaged 5,000 calories a day.
Once I started eating raw food, I averaged between 2,500-3,000 calories a day.
I felt so much more satisfied once I started eating raw.
I think the reason I felt “hungry” on a cooked diet was because cooking alters nutrients and a lot of them get “cooked away”
I needed to eat more food in order to feel satisfied.
On a raw diet since I’m getting all my nutrients intact, I feel more satisfied on less.
I couldn’t imagine trying to stop eating at an early time on cooked food as I used to be the type that had to go to bed on a full stomach, otherwise I couldn’t sleep.
I was also that way when I first started eating raw.
Now I’m ready to stop eating much earlier in the day and so far it’s working so well for me. Waking up in the night to use the bathroom also ruined the quality of my sleep.
Now I can sleep 7 to 8 hours straight without needing the bathroom.
I would probably sleep a little bit longer (I think at this point 9 hours of sleep is IDEAL for me), except I have my little alarm clock, Andrew, who wakes me up a little earlier than I want to wake up.
Hopefully in another year he will be able to let Mommy REST!
