(Pictures of) The BEST Thanksgiving PARTY On The PLANET!

Yesterday Andrew and I took a trip on two choo choos (one train, one subway) to Manhattan to attend a low fat raw vegan thanksgiving party.

We found out about it on 30 Bananas A Day!  A social network site for low fat raw vegans:  http://www.30bananasaday.com/

There must have been over 20 guests there, all low fat raw vegans (100% or mostly there).

Low Fat Raw Vegans CAN Party!

For me it was so nice to go to a party where people eat like we do.

Normally when I go to parties serving cooked foods I can’t relax fully because I have to be Andrew’s FOOD POLICE since he’s gotten sick from eating cooked food before (a little girl once gave him a piece of chicken).

This party I was able to relax fully and enjoy myself.

Andrew enjoyed himself more because he sensed how relaxed I was and this relaxed him too!

Our awesome host, Jourdan, and his family served a beautiful array of fruits and vegetable dishes.

We enjoyed ice cream bananas as well as three other banana types.  There was also jackfruit and durian.

We got to sample canistel (egg fruit) as well as chocolate sapote (the chocolate pudding fruit).

We even got to eat some awesome raw vegan tacos (that didn’t contain any fats in them).  These tacos were so good that they inspired me to come up with my own variation of them (more on this later).

They even served this wonderful mango salsa with cucumber slices, celery sticks and zucchini slices.

Andrew really loved the banana date pudding as well as the date truffles.  There were three types of date truffles including carob flavored and carob mint.

There were also two different fruit pies there, one with berries and the other with apples and some other fruits.

SO DELICIOUS or as they say in Latin America, “Que RICO!”

And all of this was just the LUNCH BUFFET!

Just as we were wrapping up eating all we could from the lunch buffet, the DINNER BUFFET was about to be SERVED!

Dinner included oranges, tangerines, clementines as well as pomelo, a fruit very similar to pink grapefruit!

There was also zucchini pasta with a delightful sauce that Tristan, Jourdan’s brother, made.

There were two other wonderful sauces like tomato basil and tomato tahini, both FABULOUS!

There was plenty of salad greens as well, romaine, iceberg, red leaf and green & red chards.

They even served some of my favorite tomatoes like Campari and Chocolate Russians.

And although we all ate like PIGS none of us felt like crap.  This was because (1) we didn’t eat anything COOKED and (2) we ate very little fats.

Now there were walnuts in small amounts in certain recipes like the truffles as well as the fruit pies and at dinner there was a bowl of diced avocado on the buffet table and some fat in the tomato tahini dressing, but the overt fats were just “guest stars” making brief apperances.

This contrasts with Standard thanksgiving fare (even in standard cooked vegan and standard gourmet raw) with virtually everything served is HIGH in fat.

Fat becomes the “Main Event.”

No wonder all those who attend these parties are tired, lethargic and gassy after eating.  Coffee anyone? Or in the case of gourmet raw, cacao anyone?

Well at this FANTASTIC Party NO ONE was tired.  In fact everyone had just as much energy PRIOR to eating as they did AFTER eating.

This was truly the BEST Thanksgiving Party I ever attended (Andrew would agree).

Roger couldn’t make the party as he had so much work to do–he’s “cookin’” up something special, let me tell you :) (more on this later)

The good news is that it looks like Jourdan and his family may be hosting a CHRISTMAS Party!

If this happens you know I will share the fun with you!

Enjoy your weekend!

Love,

Karmyn

P.S. I have a special surprise to share with you (HINT:  It’s something that Roger, Andrew and I have been “cookin” up for ya).  I will tell you the DETAILS soon ..
